I was diagnosed three years ago at age 37. Needless to say I am really struggling with eating out. My husband and I went to Rome last year and despite translating my gluten-free requests into Italian, I still had a lot of difficulty getting proper uncontaminated food and I ended up very ill. We are going again this August but decided to book an apartment and take over my own food. I have noted your experience of eating out and will try out the restaurants you have recommended for coeliacs. It s wonderful if given the chance to eat normally without an hassle or staff giving the impression that us coeliacs are being fussy and awkward.
